Climbing Gym

From experienced climbers to Austinites looking for a new workout option, Crux has something for everyone. This 22,000 square foot facility is stocked with rope climbing, bouldering, and strength training areas, a flex space for fitness and yoga classes, locker rooms, a kids’ area, and a lounge space.

Owned by local Austin climbers, Matt Twyman and Kevin Goradia, Crux is designed to be much more than a gym—it’s a place where you can form a community. The lounge space gives you a great place to hang out with old friends or meet new ones after your workout. The friendly staff is always on hand to answer questions or help you out if you get stuck. Social events ranging from small, intimate community gatherings to large, blow-your-mind competitions are held at Crux all year long.

We’re excited to be a part of this South Austin neighborhood, and we hope you’ll enjoy the atmosphere that we’ve built for you. Read more

Really enjoyed coming here more than I thought I would. I came with my family to get some much needed energy out. Loved the auto-belay for the little ones. Although my boys really like the free style climbing better. They have a great second story climbing area. My kids felt so accomplished and loved getting over the top to the second story. There was also a kid-safe room off to the side for younger children as well. The artwork, ambiance, and vibe was excellent. Employees were very helpful and professional.

Best climbing gym I have come across. A bit small, but they have their shit together. Plus, they change out climbing walls every 3 weeks or so, so there are always new projects to work and train on.

I love Crux. They did a great job in designing the space. The Rope Canyon is their rock-climbing wall. It has several auto-belays as well as top-ropes setup. A significant number of routes are setup for lead climbing. There a lot of bouldering routes as well. Overall, Crux is a great climbing gym. It has to be experienced to understand. The space is cool and relaxing at the same time. It's the ideal place to keep your outdoor-climbing skills sharp during the hot and wet Austin summer.

Crux is an all around fantastic climbing gym--for bouldering, top roping and lead climbing. The routes are reset regularly and are clearly set with love and creativity. What's really unique about this gym is the future wall; a part of the bouldering wall in which the angles are changed several times a year. If you're a member, or regular climber, you'll get to experience new angles as well as new routes. I also highly recommend the events that Crux is dedicated to putting together. ... They are also very receptive to the suggestion box, so you know your voice is heard and they have it as a priority to hear out their customers. Very clean, too!
