Christina Bird Acupuncture

Acupuncturist

I have always been interested in health and healing modalities. As an Athletic Training major, my studies focused on kinesiology, anatomy and physiology, and the prevention, care, assessment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. I learned special tests that allow me to assess injuries and choose proper rehabilitation strategies. Additionally, I spent three and a half years working as a Personal Trainer, during which I learned more about the body and training it for ideal performance.

My interest in holistic medicine, or "Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM)," began when I read the Mayo Clinic's Book of Alternative Medicine shortly after completing my undergraduate degree. I subsequently found myself at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine studying Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). During the 11-semester program, I interned in the on-campus clinic, an off-site Senior's clinic, and spent two semesters at Rady Children's Hospital working with the children in the hematology, oncology, and chronic pain departments. It was both a humbling and beautiful experience to see how Acupuncture could immediately and dramatically improve the level of comfort and quality of life of my patients. Read more

I've been a bit hesitant about writing this review only because Christina has done so much for me, that I wanted to keep her all to myself. -However, having said that, I am very thankful to her; I'm in a much better place today physically, mentally and emotionally, than I was over a year ago. -I was a mess. -Before going to her, I had already sought treatment from 2 other acupuncturist. In any case, now that I have a better idea as to what I need from a provider, I can definitely say Christina has been a godsend to me. She's an exceptional caretaker! She's empathetic, gentle, knowledgeable, a great listener and makes sure she is doing her best for you. ... I would not think twice before recommending her to anyone. If she's helped me out so much, I know she can do the same for others. You should definitely give her a try, just as long as she still has time to squeeze ME :D in!

I was having some back pains from an awkward lift. I went to Christina just by chance. I usually get a bit anxious when having the needles put in, but I did not really feel the first 10 or so. Christina was really attentive to what I described, and she did a good job addressing it with the placement of her needles.

Much like a lot of people on here, I fell asleep during treatment. Which is a big deal for me, because as I mentioned before, I get a little anxious. Her studio has a good relaxing vibe, and is located close to Balboa park. I highly recommend her.

I have been seeing Christina for a few months now for digestive issues and migraines. All I can say is that she is amazing!!! She is always kind and attentive to my needs and takes the time to listen to all of what is going on with me in every visit. Her energy and physical space is calm and relaxing. I often fall asleep while on her table. She finishes every treatment with a quick massage which I have never experienced with an acupuncturist. ... I highly recommend seeing Christina for any issues you may be having or even if you just want to pamper yourself. I will be a client for life!!

Christina loves what she does, and it shows. She takes the time to assess your health, then helps keep you healthy with her magical acupuncture. I go in for regular "tune ups," as well as when I've got an injury or illness. She can help with anything!

I received my very first acupuncture treatment here at Viva Radiance from Christina Bird. I had no idea what to expect. We spent about an hour going over a detailed health history and consultation. That's more time than a general physician has ever spent with me. Then she helped me get comfortable on the treatment table. She took my pulse and had me stick out my tongue a couple of times. Christina then explained to me which areas she was going to focus on and the protocol. She made me feel very relaxed with her demeanor. ... It was an overall pleasant experience and I slept great last night. I plan to do more treatments with Christina throughout my pregnancy and after. Whether you are an acupuncture fan or a novice, I highly recommend you come visit Christina.
