Locksmith

The formal term is really transponder key. 1995 was the first year transponder keys appeared in the U.S. These are not the same as GM VATS/PASS keys which contain a visible pellet.
Transponder keys, which incorporate a small radio frequency device, are now being used by almost all the auto makers on an ever increasing number of models.

Cars with this feature use keys which have a small “chip” in the head of the key. When you turn your key in the ignition, a digital code is transmitted from the key to an antenna around the lock. This digital code may have several billion or trillion possibilities. If you try to start a car using a key without the correct code, the car electronically shuts down. Thieves can no longer force and break to steal.

This greater security has a price. Expect to pay a lot more for a transponder key. Even though all these keys function with radio frequency, the procedure for originating and duplicating varies greatly by model. Some new keys may be programmed with simple on-board steps, or by using a programming device to clone the digital code to a replacement key. Most other models require connecting special diagnostic equipment to the car’s computer. In some cases, a vehicle specific PIN code is required for the process.

Brandt Locksmiths has the ability to furnish a large number of these keys, and continued release of new technology promises even greater capabilities in the future. Read more

I purchased a remote entry "G" chip transponder "flip" key for a 2012 Toyota Camry on Ebay. Toyota does not sell an OEM switchblade (flip) key. I took the ebay purchased key to Brandt Locksmiths for cutting and "pairing" with my vehicle. They cut the key, "matched" the transponder to the vehicle very quickly and for a fair and reasonable price. I recommend Brandt Locksmiths. The Toyota dealer wanted over 4x the amount I paid on ebay plus what I paid Brandt Locksmiths; plus I got the flip key I wanted with the same functionality as the OEM Toyota key with a smaller footprint in my pocket.

I needed a new remote entry key fob and this Locksmith was recommended to me by a friend. I'm a talker and the owner was listening to me yap and before I could finish he had me all set up and out the door with exactly what I needed. The price was great and the service was fast.

Good, friendly, fast and cheap all at the same time!? I don't need a locksmith very often but this is the place I will go from now on. Don't forget to bring cash though, they don't take credit/debit cards. For the people whining about them not being friendly-it's because of people like you. They're providing a skilled service not selling Mary Kay products.

This company is fantastic. We needed two fobs programmed for our new (used) van before we go out of town tomorrow. I brought my kids, my pregnant belly, and the fobs we needed to be cut/programmed-- this guy did it in under 10 minutes! Amazing. Such a great experience. Will be back and will be sending others.

I lost my only key to my 2000 Toyota Solara SLE V6, dealership wanted to charge me $895- $1600 to resolve my issue. I literally talked to over 100 locksmiths between Thurs to Monday and Brandt Locksmith was the only company that gave me straight information, no run around and got me serviced the next morning and my car was finished by their opening time. The worst and best experience of my life- worst being I lost my key- best being Brandt did exactly what I needed, asked and didn't over charge me and saved me around $1400.00. I will remember this for the rest of my life, Thank you Brandt Locksmith.
