Black Market Yoga

Yoga Instructor

Daniel has two teaching certificates from his studies in Mysore, India and teaches Vinyasa yoga with roots in Ashtanga. Daniel’s teaching is laced with a sense of humor and a down-to-earth attitude that makes yoga accessible to anyone willing to show up for the gig. You’re living your dream... don’t miss it.

In 1634, Daniel Overberger’s forebears came to America on the Dove as escaped counterfeiters. Here, they mated with members of the Yaocomico tribe of Maryland. Dan is a grounded, sensible teacher with great heart and great taste in music! I've taken his classes at Runyon and will be adding the Black Market classes to the mix as well. A staple of the true, original LA Yoga community.

This class is a hidden gem. Daniel holds them on Mondays and Wednesdays in a large auditorium space with a polished wooden floor in the historic Women's Club of Hollywood. And at $5 a class (or more, since it's donation based), it's an amazing bargain. I've taken yoga for years at different studios in the area, and Daniel's expertise compares very well to even the best, specialized yoga studios. The large space is amazing and his classes are well attended. Daniel also plays a well curated mixture of modern music and often tells a story at the beginning of the practice to help set the intention. Last week, the playlist included music by Bjork. I would definitely recommend giving his class a try. There is plenty of free parking in the back.
