Birthing From Within San Antonio

Doula

Nikki Shaheed is a Certified Birthing from Within Mentor and Birth Story Listening Training Facilitator who teaches engaging and interactive childbirth classes in north central San Antonio to parents expecting a baby. The focus of Nikki’s work is to bring compassion to birth and parenting. In her classes, she fosters realistic expectations about birth, normalizing excitement, doubt, love, fear, and everything in between during labor. She meets parents exactly where they are in each moment during preparation, birth, and postpartum and uses her extensive training, experience, and love to guide them through the childbearing year. Nikki has attended dozens of births and mentored hundreds of parents since 2012. With each new family she meets, Nikki gains new insights and wisdom, learning from each parent as much as they learn from her.

When Nikki isn’t busy squeezing hips or teaching partners how to do so, she serves as a Birthing from Within Advisor, giving guidance to other mentors as they work their way through doula or mentor certification. She facilitates Birth Story Listening training alongside Pam England for those who wish to help parents and birth workers heal from a difficult birth experience. She is also a co-leader of San Antonio Cesarean Support Group, a local resource for those who have given birth by cesarean. You also might catch her leading personal growth events and drum circles around San Antonio. Read more

Initially, I was slightly skeptical about how truly effective the Birth Story Medicine process would be. And how many visits it would actually take. I was a fresh postpartum mom carrying a LOT of baggage from my traumatic birth. But the moment I walked into her studio, I felt a since of peace and safety.

I’m so happy my husband and I took the Birthing from Within class with Nikki! After taking the free childbirth classes offered though the hospital, I had a lot of technical information and had learned how to be a good patient, but didn’t feel I had any practical information or knew how to prepare mentally for the baby. ...

Nikki inspires confidence, self compassion and clarity through the birth story medicine process. It was well worth the time and effort I put in to the process to heal the wound of my traumatic birth. I never thought I would find resolution from this painful experience but after our session I'm able to tell myself a brand new inspiring story.

Nikki is a wonderful person, mentor and teacher. My husband and I took these classes to prepare ourselves for the birth of our baby girl and we couldn't have been more happier with the outcome. Did I remember and correlate everything in the class? No.

As a lactation consultant in private practice, I hear a families birth story, and hear all about their birth classes, birth prep and their doula experience and I have never once heard a negative anything about BFW SA. 💗💦
