in October 2003 after 5 years working in Fred Astaire Sergey starts his own dancing business. In 1998, Sergey moved to New York. For the next 5 years, he continued to master his dancing and teaching skills at Fred Astaire Dance Studios. He represented FADS Midtown numerous times in professional events in both American and International Styles (Rhythm and Smooth, Latin and Standard) throughout the United States. Sergey has been certified by Fred Astaire in American Ballroom and American Rhythm. His efforts were recognized by the New York Franchise for "Outstanding Performance in Advanced Department" in 1999 and as "Best Advanced Department Teacher" in 2000. Twice, in 1999 and 2000, he received the Top Teacher Award in Fred Astaire Competitions. Sergey started his independent dance business in 2003. In the meantime, he continued his training with top world class professionals. Sergey successfully competed professionally in the International Standard division in the USA and abroad. Wedding planning is already stressful enough, but it can be a little more daunting when you have two left feet like me. My now wife and I found Sergey through groupon and were very happy that we did - we're both a little clumsy, but Sergey was very kind and patient with us through all of our missteps and choreographed a great first dance. Our classes took place in the Manhattan Ballroom which was a little crowded at times (and definitely intimidating) with all of the pros and semi-pros, but there were a couple of corners with privacy screens to save us some embarrassment. Sergey was always quick to respond to calls/texts and flexible with scheduling classes. All in all, we had a great experience and would recommend Sergey to anyone looking for a dance instructor.

Sergey is an amazingly talented and wonderful dance teacher, and I couldn't recommend anyone better for a dance instructor. He choreographed an elegant first dance wedding for us, and was patient and thoughtful with us, even if it took us several times to remember a dance move. Sergey was very professional throughout the process and totally took the stress out of preparing for our first dance even though we were beginners and never really danced before. He also was flexible in scheduling, working to find times that fit with our hectic schedules. He even took the time to meet up with us at our wedding venue to practice the day before our wedding, we were so grateful. His top-notch teaching skills resulted in our first dance going off perfectly without a hitch, and we give Sergey all the credit in making that happen! Thank you for such a wonderful experience and the great memories created Sergey!

Sergey is a phenomenal teacher. Patient, clear, efficient, humorous...I'm not sure what else you could ask for in an instructor when you are trying to rehearse a dance one week before your wedding (with minimal prior dance experience)! Lev and I felt far more prepared for our wedding dance with Sergey's assistance and recommend any couples preparing for a wedding or just eager to learn some classic dance moves to sign up with Sergey today. Best money spent leading up to the big day!
