Austin Play Garden

Day Care

Sisters and longtime educators, Claire Smith and Hannah Rosenbaum, founded Austin Play Garden in 2014. The idea to open a school for the Austin community came from their experiences in child care, public schools and working with families in general. They believe that early childhood is the most important time developmentally in a person’s life. The goal is to create a school that combines high-quality educators with an environment that offers development equal to the standards met for any other time in a student’s life.

The Mission of Austin Play Garden is to create a preschool where children can grow and learn. We believe that nurturing relationships are the foundation for positive learning experiences. We endeavor to foster independence while creating an environment where students feel safe and become contributing members of our school family. Read more

My little one started at APG about a month ago, she is 21 months. I've heard positive talk throughout the neighborhood (I live in Crestview) when I was inquiring about making a switch from the daycare we had been at for almost a year. Most importantly, the staff is attentive, thorough and caring. They keep the space clean, organized and have a modern system in place which makes check in and out feel secure. I love that the toddlers and babies are interactive and they spend so much time outdoors! They have art projects, stories and lots of fun/challenging activities for their development. My little one comes home happy and doesn't cry when I drop her off. It seems the positive things I have heard are true, my little girl is fortunate to learn & PLAY at Austin play garden.

After a less than stellar experience with a day care center near our home, we now go out of our way to take our two children (ages 18 months and four years) to Austin Play Garden and we couldn't be happier. The teachers in both classrooms are engaged, nurturing, and sincerely interested in every child. Both of my kids are happy to go to school each day (in stark contrast with the fighting and tears we had every drop off at their old school) and they are excited to share with me what they did in school at pick up. My 18 month old even signs 'love' to her teachers when we say goodbye. Again, couldn't be happier.

I feel like we struck childcare gold. Our daughter was with a nanny prior to Austin Play Garden, and we were nervous about the transition. ,,,

APG makes it easy to go to work every day. We never miss our daughter less, but we know she is in incredible hands and better for her time at APG.

We love APG so much! My son always enjoys going to school and learns so much while he's there. I love the play lead learning style they use in their classrooms.
