So much more than a bike shop, an institution in the community. They know how to win the party.

I finally had a chance to sit down and take the time to write a review worthy of the customer service at Adams Avenue Bicycles. I went in about a month to have them rebuild my Bianchi and at the same time order one for my wife. I had been looking all over for a Milano Dama that would fit her short stature (she thinks she is 5' I KNOW she is 4' 11" on a humid day) and surprise, surprise AAB was able to order one and have it in the shop in short order. They made the ordering process painless and called me in when it was ready. This was an anniversary present for her and when I let Maurice (Mo or 'Rice) know that, he told me that he would take care of it. So when I got the call, I got my tiny wife in the car and dragged her down there in the guise of getting a new tire for my bike. When I walked in Maurice greeted me at the door like an old friend and said " hold on let me put her bike in the back room and set it all up". So I bring her in and he has the bike sitting pretty and she LOVES it!!!!!
Now normally that would be the end of the review but it gets better. What I neglected to say was that my wife only has 100% functional use of her left arm and almost none in her right arm (that would support holding the handlebar). Clearly, the bike would need some modifications in order for her to ride it safely (and besides she wanted a cute basket on the back). I didn't tell the AAB team that prior to ordering the bike...so what did they do?!!! They got right to work solving the problem. They jumped online and found a dual shifter contraption (I know I'm super technical) and talked through the necessary modifications for her size and her arm (thanks Spot). Maurice let me know the timeline for the changes and told me that he would call me when her bike was available. So before I could even get home I got a call from Maurice (what the heck?) letting me know that after talking with Spot that they thought it would be best to order a smaller frame in addition to the modifications. WHAT?! That was absolutely awesome!!!!
So true to form they called me the day it was supposed to be ready to let me know that it was there for me to pick up. Everything else went smoothly with the fit when we came back in and she was smiling from ear to ear. This place did an awesome job! Thank you Maurice and Spot and thank you AAB. Amazing job!

Having recently sold my car last month, I've started biking in tandem with public transit as my primary means of transportation. Up until recently, my knowledge of bikes was limited to knowing how to ride one. When I first took my bike in at the start of the month for a tune up after months in storage, Chuck did a quick inspection and determined that it was good to ride, and made a few minor adjustments it needed at no cost. Just a few days ago, I stopped in to buy a spare tire tube and ask about how to adjust my brake pads because they were sitting a little too close to the tire and making light contact with the wheel when the lever wasn't being pulled, and Spot gave me the 2 minute primer as he did it for me.
The guys at this store are very friendly and helpful, more so than the handful of other bike pros I've dealt with over the years. Going from someone who would recreationally ride a couple miles every month to someone who commutes by bike, they've been a great resource in getting to know more about bike mechanics and maintenance. When it comes to all equipment and supplies, I *could* have Amazon Prime it to my doorstep, but already a few times this month, I much prefer to bike up the street to the local bike shop and give these guys my money instead.
