Older furniture is made with better wood and more stable building processes. Modern out-of-the-box furniture is often put together with staples instead of wood joints and made with pressed wood or materials that are grown too quickly, therefore lacking stability and strength. The craftsmanship in the past is usually better than some of the modern-day techniques that focus on low cost and convenience. It makes sense to repair and restore older higher-quality furniture rather than spend on short-term poorly constructed pieces that will have a shorter lifespan. Read more

I have had a few higher end antiques repaired and refinished with this company. It is the only place I go for PERECT upholstery work. Their man is an absolute artist with his craft.

For the exquisite quality of the workmanship, the pricing is fair. Expensive, but worth it.
The shop it itself is no "showroom". The final product is the shining star.

Great refinishers. I took in two chairs & three small tables -- they immediately told me that two of the tables were probably not worth the cost of refinishing (so they're honest). They did a great job on the two chairs and remaining table. Kept me updated on the process -- at one point to let me know they weren't able to get all the old black stain off one of the chairs and they gave me options of things they could do. Final results were excellent and completed in less time than they originally estimated. People were polite and pleasant to work with.

... Their work is not for the modest budget. But it is worth it, if you value your furnishings and want it redone to the highest standard. "You get what you pay for" certainly applies here.

They take the time to get it done correctly and the owner is a wonderful person to work with with standards of quality that one usually associates with a bygone era. ...
