A1 Furniture Refinishing

Furniture Repair

I am a one man shop, thereby assuring you the quality and integrity that you seek for your treasured heirlooms and everyday functional furniture. I first started my trade in the 1970's working on Steinway grand pianos with a master piano technician, doing all the refinishing of the exterior case and interior soundboard, to restore these very fine musical instruments back to their original high-quality sound and finish appearance. Walked in with an old chair and asked about the broken foot piece at the bottom of the chair. He immediately got tools and took it out, explaining what it is called "swivel glide" and a website to order them. He was friendly and informative. I really appreciated the time he took to help us out. Thanks so much!!!
I recommend him to anyone who needs a chair or other furniture fixed!!!

George is an old-fashioned craftsman, meticulous, knowledgeable, amazingly skilled - the sort that you think has disappeared entirely. We lucked into him, and now wouldn't use anyone else. So far he has repaired and refinished two sets of dining chairs for us, and they are transformed. He goes far beyond the minimum requirements, making the invisible as well as visible repairs that ensure that the furniture will last another generation; and the resulting pieces positively glow.

... Service: His prices are reasonable, he is courteous, efficient and professional, he tells you when he can finish and then keeps the commitment, he listens to what his customer wants, his knowledge of wood is a joy (have him tell you about some of the pieces in his shop), and the quality of his work is outstanding. What a great find!

I had 2 faded solid cherry end tables in my garage for decades. I didn't know whether to donate them or breathe new life into them. I took them to George at A-1 and he made them look brand new. They became an antique with a modern updated appearance that fit beautifully into my contemporary house. He was polite and professional. He gave me a fair price and took great pride in providing me exactly what I asked for faster than I ever expected. I would definitely use him again and kick myself for not making the end tables beautiful years ago.

George is the person you go to if you have wood furniture that needs work. He takes them all apart and removes any wear and tear, leaving any character, if an antique and you request that. He has restored several antique pieces of ours from beds, to dressers, etc… We love real wood furniture the way it was made back in the day, when hand crafting meant something. If you are looking for someone who has talent and is a true craftsman; than George is the man for the job. He is a one man business and takes pride in the work he does. I love every piece he has done for us and they will last another 100 years or so. Thanks again George!!
