226 Recordings
Paul Cox

Mixing Engineer

In 2008 Paul Cox and his wife, Mairi, opened 226 Recordings on what had been a parking lot nestled in the Houston Heights’ main shopping district. After almost 2 years of designing and construction, they established their dream - a full service recording studio in one of Houston’s most vibrant neighborhoods.

226 Recordings prides itself on its eclectic gear collection, which pairs cutting edge digital technology with tried-and-true analog pieces. Top of the line equipment fuses with Paul’s 16 years in the industry to make 226 Recordings a global destination. International and local clients alike take advantage of 226’s recording, mixing, mastering, voice-over, ADR, and postproduction capabilities. 226 also offers remote mixing, as well as real-time session monitoring via Source Live or Source Connect. This vast knowledge is also channeled into educating aspiring audio engineers. Find out more about the education program here.

Paul’s impressive resume includes clients such as Macy Gray, Ernie Watts, Stanley Clarke, Denis Chambers, Nick Smith, Honda, Centerpoint Energy, British Petroleum, Boyscouts of America, Papa Johns, and many more. Their comprehensive experience in rock, folk, jazz, Celtic, alternative, soul, metal, gospel, and pop makes 226 Recordings the go-to studio for working in any genre. Read more

It was a great eye opening and wonderful experience. Rack gear, processors, pre-amps, compressors all confused me. Learning signal flow and learning microphone techniques have helped me become the best that I can be. I wish I had done this course years ago.
Paul is great. I loved class in every way. He is very knowledgeable and insightful.

This was one of the most comprehensive, well thought out, and well taught courses I have ever taken. I am 55 years old and been through of lot of workshops and courses in my years, and Paul has put together a wonderful combination of teaching as well as hands on learning that really works. He has been doing this for a while and truly understands that different people learn differently and provides a curriculum that appeals to young and old, technical studio engineer to musician, and he is adept in all different types of genres of music. I was impressed...
